We Made It!

It’s been a while since my last post. We stayed with my dad and step-mom for a week, went to a balloon glow, had lots of backyard fires with marshmallows for roasting, and caught up since we hadn’t seen each other in so long. It was amazingly nice to just relax and chill. My dad grilled some chicken, at my request. It was what I always asked for on my birthday growing up. I also made his favorite that he always requested for his birthday. It was a huge homerun – even Ms Action, who doesn’t much like chicken, ate three pieces of chicken.

Besides a small incident involving BP using different colors for diesel than the rest of the country (and the ensuing costly repair), we had no further troubles on our trip.

We went through Missouri and met my mom and sister for dinner, then on through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia again, Maryland, then, finally, Virginia. We arrived in really heavy, horrid traffic, and couldn’t find a gas station anywhere, and I needed a bathroom like you wouldn’t believe. But, we made it.

We’re in a hotel for the time being, until we can close on the house at the beginning of next week. We drove by the house today, is adorable and yard is amazing (besides needing fencing). The girls didn’t want to leave, which I’m taking as a good sign.

We learned about each state as we traveled through it, the girls played educational games on the Kindle and LeapPad, and we talked lots about biology (specifically, reproduction). So, no “official” schooling, but still lots of learning happened on our journey eastward. We’ll start school back up once we’re in our house and somewhat settled, hopefully in the not-to-distant future.
